How it works

The tool builds a tone curve and applies it to the brightness of each pixel, then scales red, green and blue together so colours keep their hue. Natural is a gentle gamma lift across the whole photo. Shadow lift raises dark areas and leaves highlights mostly alone. Backlit lifts shadows harder and holds back the brightest parts, for faces against a bright window or sky.

The preview uses a smaller copy so the slider feels quick. When you save, the same curve runs on the full-size photo.

Why it stays private

Your photo is opened and processed by your browser. It is never uploaded, and nothing is stored. The saved file is drawn fresh from a canvas, so camera details and location data from the original are not copied.

Questions

Which mode should I pick?

Start with Natural. If faces or foreground are dark but the sky looks fine, try Shadow lift. If a person stands in front of a window or the sun, try Backlit.

Will it add noise?

Brightening shows noise that was already hidden in dark areas. Lower strength keeps it calmer.

Is the original changed?

No. The tool saves a new file. The original stays as it was.

Does it keep the location and camera info?

No. The saved file has no EXIF data, including GPS.
