The terms for using the VaultWell app, its backup and sharing features, and this website's free tools.

Draft prepared 21 October 2026. Will be reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

Draft. Will be reviewed before launch. Text in [square brackets] is a placeholder still to be filled in.

Who these terms are with

These terms are between you and [Company name], [registered address] ("we"). By downloading or using the VaultWell app or this website, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

Who can use VaultWell

You must be old enough, under the law where you live, to agree to these terms. [Minimum age to be confirmed before launch.]

Using VaultWell

  • You may use VaultWell for your own lawful purposes.
  • Don't use it to store, share or hide content that is illegal, or that harms others, including any content involving the sexual exploitation of children.
  • Don't use intruder snapshots, backups or shares in a way that breaks the law where you live.
  • Don't try to reverse-engineer, copy or interfere with the app or the website, beyond what the law allows.

Your responsibilities

  • Your paths and phrases. Only you have them. If you lose a vault's path and its recovery phrase, we can't recover the vault for you.
  • Backups. The app doesn't back up your vaults automatically. Creating and keeping backups is up to you.
  • Duress vault. Opening the duress vault with its path permanently erases every other vault on the phone, without a warning on screen. You turn this on knowingly, and we can't reverse it.
  • Shares. The app enforces the limits you set on a share, such as the number of opens, expiry and whether items can be saved. A person who has the share phrase could still copy what they can see.
  • Your devices. Keep your phone's lock and software up to date. Security depends on your device as well as the app.

Your content

What you keep in VaultWell belongs to you. We don't receive it, and we claim no rights to it.

Free tools and this website

The tools on this website are free for personal use and run in your browser. They are provided as they are. Check the result before you share a file. No tool can guarantee that every piece of information, such as image metadata, has been removed. You may use this website freely for personal use. Please don't attempt to disrupt it.

Purchases and app store terms

VaultWell is not yet available, and no purchases or subscriptions are offered. If purchases are introduced, their terms will be published before they are offered. Once the app is listed, downloads through the App Store or Google Play are also subject to those stores' terms.

Intellectual property

The VaultWell app, its name, logo and the content of this website belong to [Company name] or its licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the app and website as described here.

Ending use

You can stop using VaultWell at any time by deleting the app. We may stop offering the website or its tools. Where it is practical, we'll give notice before we do.

The app and website as they are

We work hard to make VaultWell reliable and secure, but we can't promise it will be free of errors or suit every purpose. To the extent the law allows, VaultWell and this website are provided "as is", and we aren't liable for lost data or indirect losses. [Limitation of liability to be reviewed for [jurisdiction]. Consumer rights that can't be excluded by law are not affected.]

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will post the changes here, with a new date at the top. These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction]. Contact: [email address], to be added before launch.
