Privacy policy
What VaultWell and this website collect: in short, nothing we can see. No accounts, no analytics, no cookies, and tools that work on your device.
Draft. Will be reviewed before launch. Text in [square brackets] is a placeholder still to be filled in.
The short version
VaultWell has no accounts. What you keep in the app stays encrypted on your phone and is not sent to us. This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising. Its tools process your files in your browser, and the files are not uploaded.
Who we are
This policy covers the VaultWell app and this website, provided by [Company name], [registered address]. Contact details: [email address], to be added before launch.
The VaultWell app
- No account. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your content. Photos, videos, files, notes, intruder snapshots and vault contents are encrypted on your phone. We don't receive them and can't read them.
- Paths and phrases. Your vault paths, recovery phrases and share phrases are never sent to us. We can't recover them for you.
- Files you add. When you add files from Photos, the Camera or Files, the app reads only the items you choose.
- Settings. Preferences such as language, icon choice and lock timing are stored on your phone.
- Intruder snapshots. If you turn them on, a photo taken by the front camera after repeated wrong paths is stored in the vault you open next. It isn't sent anywhere.
- Backups and shares. Backups (.vwbackup files) and shares (.vwshare files) are created by you and kept by you. Where you send them, such as a cloud drive or a messaging app, is your choice, and that service's own policy applies.
- Permissions. The app asks for access to Photos, the Camera, the Microphone (for recording video) and Files only to do what you ask. Camera access is also used for intruder snapshots when you turn them on.
- Analytics and crash reports. The app does not send us analytics, usage data or crash reports about what you do. [Confirm before launch.]
App stores
When you download the app, Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) processes that download and any purchase under their own privacy policies. They may give us aggregated, non-identifying reports such as download counts. [Review before launch.]
This website
- No cookies, analytics or advertising. The website doesn't set cookies and doesn't use analytics or advertising tools.
- One stored setting. Your light or dark theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
- No third-party requests. The pages load their fonts, images and scripts from this website only.
- Tools. The image and QR tools run in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and reliability. [Hosting provider and retention period to be added.]
What we don't do
We don't sell personal information. We don't share it for advertising, and we don't build profiles of visitors or users.
Security
How the app encrypts your vaults, and what it does and doesn't protect against, is explained on our security page.
Children
VaultWell isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. [Minimum age to be confirmed before launch.]
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data from the app, there is usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete. You can delete everything the app stores by deleting the vaults in it, or by deleting the app. For questions about this website, contact [email address]. Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information, such as access, correction or deletion. [Add the rights that apply in each jurisdiction, for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA.]
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For a material change, we'll say so on the website before it takes effect.
